LEADERSHIP

We specifically look for professionals who are:

(a) leaders in their community and/or their careers, and

In other words, we look for professionals who are either currently serving in a leadership capacity, are on a leadership trajectory in their careers, or have demonstrated leadership in their personal endeavors– regardless if one works in the for-profit, nonprofit, or public sectors.

Prospective applicants are welcome to email apps@muppies.org with any questions before applying.

Questions about applying?

Who reviews my application?

Applications are read by members of the Application Committee. The Application Committee is comprised of Muppies Executive Team members, current, and past Muppies leaders. Committee membership rotates on an annual basis.

What does the Application Committee look for?

Muppies relies on a set of membership criterion to accept applicants as Muppies members. The Application Committee evaluates potential members on three key areas:

  1. We receive it.
Once an application is submitted, it is sent to the Application Committee; the applicant will be notified via email that it has been received.
  2. We review it.
The Application Committee reviews every single application, and a unanimous vote must be attained for an application to be accepted. We strive to review all applications within four weeks.
  3. We respond.
Every applicant is notified once their application is processed and a decision is made— regardless of the outcome.

Will I be notified if I'm not accepted into membership?

Yes– all applicants will be notified once a decision has been made– regardless of the outcome.

What if I'm not currently employed?

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply once full-time employment has been secured. If an applicant has recently graduated from college or a graduate program but is still unemployed, the Application Committee will evaluate one’s candidacy based on the applicant’s prior work experience.

Should I apply if I’m currently in college or grad school?

Why are applicants NOT accepted?

Applicants are evaluated on the criterion mentioned earlier.

Common reasons an applicant is not admitted include:

  • An incomplete application was submitted, or responses to prompts were not thoughtfully written
  • An applicant’s career experience does not meet the list of targeted fields mentioned on this page, and/or the application did not demonstrate clear leadership in an ancillary field
  • The applicant was an indiscernible prospect of either a) giving to Muppies or b) gaining from Muppies
